**School A — Ridgeview Motoring** One of the longest-established driving schools in the county. Lessons are offered in both manual and automatic cars, at a rate of £38 per hour for single one-hour lessons, or £36 per hour if ten or more lessons are booked in advance. A theory-test revision package, priced at £55 separately, is included free of charge for anyone who books a block of at least twenty lessons. Lessons can be booked in one-hour or two-hour slots.

**School B — FasterPass Drive** An intensive driving school aimed at learners who want to pass the test as quickly as possible. FasterPass offers five-day and ten-day courses, priced at £850 and £1,450 respectively, including the theory-test booking fee and one practical-test booking. Learners are normally expected to have some prior experience behind the wheel. Courses are held in Ridgeview, Greenfield and Portmere, with limited dates each month.

**School C — Hillside Instructors' Collective** A small cooperative of eight independent instructors who co-operate on diary management but set their own individual lesson prices. Typical rates vary between £36 and £42 per hour. Instructors are matched to learners on the basis of learning style, driving experience and preferred time of day. All instructors are registered with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency.

**School D — Greenfield Community Driving Trust** A charitable trust which offers subsidised lessons to under-25s who are studying or training in the Greenfield area, and to adults who need to drive for work but have had their entitlement to paid lessons restricted on financial grounds. All lessons are given in manual cars. Hourly rates are £18 for under-25s in education, £22 for adults on means-tested assistance, and £34 for anyone else. Waiting lists apply at busy times.
